Yesteryear Collection

Searchlight lorries were military trucks fitted with powerful carbon-arc searchlights and generators used to illuminate enemy aircraft at night so anti-aircraft guns and night fighters could track and engage them. They were critical assets in the defence of Britain during heavy night bombing raids (e.g., The Blitz) and later in providing artificial battlefield illumination ('movement light' or 'Monty's Moonlight').
